Carjacking In Bibb County Turns Into A Police Chase

Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested one suspect involved in a armed robbery Friday morning.

According to deputies, 67 year old Gary Law was in the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts on Tom Hill Senior Boulevard, when a red Chevrolet Suburban with two occupants pulled up behind his vehicle.

One suspect got out of the SUV with a handgun and demanded Law give up the keys to his car.  When the suspect got the keys to Law’s car, he fled the scene in the vehicle and the other suspect followed in the red Suburban.  Both headed down I-75, then east on I-16. The suspects exited the interstate at Martin Luther King Boulevard, where deputies attempted to stop them.

The suspect took off in the SUV, leading sheriff’s deputies on a police chase, ending at Bondview Rd.  Bibb Sheriff’s deputies arrested 20 year old Tyler Caruthers, the driver of the red Chevrolet Suburban.  Caruthers has numerous charges against him.  This his fourth arrest.

Sheriff’s Deputies are still looking for the suspect that stole Law’s car, a 2007 Honda Civic.  He is described as a black male around 5 feet, 5 inches tall.  He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue bandanna, driving the Honda Civic west on I-16.

The car has a Georgia tag of A-V-W-31-18 with Miami Hurricane’s Tag on the front and a Vietnam Veteran’s sticker on the rear bumper.  If you have any information on this incident call the Bibb County Sheriff’s department at 478-746-9441.
