State Investigates Complaints of Malnourished Horses at Forsyth Stable

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Forsyth stable is under investigation after authorities received complaints of malnourished horses at the facility.

On Monday, representatives with the Department of Agriculture visited Hearts and Hooves on Bagley Road to weigh the horses. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received the initial complaint on July 16, according to Allison Selman-Willis with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Willis said a deputy was dispatched that same day and noted that “the horses had food and hay”. This Friday, another deputy returned and cited that the horses “appeared malnourished but had food and hay”, Willis said.

The sheriff’s office then contacted the Department of Agriculture who stated that the state has an ongoing investigation involving Hearts and Hooves. No word on if any charges will be filed.
