UPDATE: Missing Monroe County man found in Macon

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Willie James Thomas was found last night at a Texaco in Macon. 

A clerk saw Thomas and called the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Monroe County sheriff’s deputies and EMS examined Thomas and turned him over to his family. 


A Monroe County man is missing after he checked out of an assisted living facility and didn’t come back.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says 54-year-old Willie James Thomas checked out of Whispering Pines Personal Care Home on Highway 41 Sunday to go to a nearby church.  The home reported James missing Monday at 1:30 a.m.  Deputies spent several hours searching the area for him but were unsuccessful.

Thomas is about 6’2" and weighs about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a shiny, gray coat and jeans. He’s usually not clean shaven and has stubble and dark hair that is graying.  The sheriff’s office says he may not be lucid and may be in need of immediate medical attention.

Thomas may be attempting to travel to Fort Valley, Macon or Orlando where he may have family.
