Jones County hires Rogers as next football coach

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Jones County High School has a new head football coach.

Justin Rogers, former assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Griffin High School, will lead the Greyhounds this fall.  Griffin won the 2013 AAAA state title. Before helping coach the Bears, Rogers worked at Harris County High School.

The Jones County School board approved the hire with a unanimous vote at its meeting Tuesday.

"He’s a rising star," William Matthews, Jones County Schools Superintendent tells 41NBC.  "He’s very dynamic, very personable, very driven.  I really think he’s going to be a great asset."

The public is invited to a welcome reception Monday at 6 p.m. at the school’s cafeteria.

Rogers replaces Dwight Jones, who left earlier this year for the head coach job at Harris County after six years in Gray.
