Stratford boys to face Augusta Prep in GISA quarterfinals Wednesday

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Stratford’s boys soccer team hosts Augusta Prep Wednesday in the GISA AAA quarterfinals at 7:30.

The Eagles, the top team in Region 2, advanced by beating Weber 13-0.  Augusta Prep, the second best team in Region 4, beat Tiftarea 9-0.

Region 2 runner-up Mount de Sales travels to Westminster Wednesday.  Westminster, the top team in Region 1, had a first-round bye.  Mount de Sales beat Trinity Christian-Sharpsburg 8-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.

GHSA girls in action Wednesday

Two middle Georgia girls teams will play at home Wednesday in the first round of the GHSA playoffs.

In 4A, Region 2 winner Veterans hosts Upson-Lee.  Region 2 runner-up Rutland hosts Woodland.  Howard, the third place team from Region 2, visits Locust Grove.   Mary Persons, which finished fourth in Region 2, visits Spalding County.

In 5A, Houston County, the third place team from Region 3, travels to Northgate.
