Bobcat softball picked for NCAA Regional

INDIANAPOLIS (GC ATHLETICS RELEASE) – The NCAA announced the field for the 2014 NCAA Division II Softball Tournament, with Georgia College softball (34-15) and head coach Jamie Grodecki earning a slot in the NCAA Southeast Region bracket #2.

The Bobcats picked up the No. 7-seed for the region, and will battle host No. 2-seed Anderson University (42-10) Friday, May 9 at 4:30 p.m. That matchup comes after the two other teams, No. 3-seed Armstrong Atlantic State University (30-12) and No. 6-seed USC Aiken kick off the double-elimination site at 2 p.m.

This marks the second-straight NCAA Regional bid for GC Softball and the seventh overall. The Bobcats have won the region championship twice, the most recent coming in 2006.

The Bobcats took on Anderson in the regular season, back on Feb. 22 on the road, rebounding from a 7-5 loss to pick up a 7-3 victory and a split of the doubleheader.
