MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Pools in Macon-Bibb are slated to open this Saturday, and officials say they’re doing things a little differently this year.

All five available pools will be open to the public, but they’ll be open on different days. .

Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation Director Doc Dougherty says two pools had to be resurfaced last year.

Now he wants to see everyone enjoy the water, and he hopes to save the county money in the process.

"Last year we had three pools that were open. This year we’re going to be opening up five pools. But our objective going into alternating days, is that we’re able to save the  costs of having five pools open every single day," Dougherty said.

"So What we’re looking to do now is offer more services to the citizens having more pools open, but at the same time keeping our costs in line of where we were last year," he said.
