However, when someone is captured, Miley believes any prisoner of war should be welcomed home with open arms.
"It is sad when we try to make a controversial situation about a man coming home who donned a uniform," said Miley.
He’s referring to army sergeant Bowe Bergdahl. The POW has been at the center of controversy for days after President Obama swapped five Taliban detainees for Bergdahl’s freedom. He was held captive for five years.
There are so few people, says Miley, who are willing to sacrifice their lives to protect our nation. He believes Bergdahl should be saluted for, at the very least, that courage.
"It is a low percentage of those of us who raise our right hand and don the uniform and are willing to give up everything for our country," said Miley.
Bergdahl is expected to arrive in San Antonio, Texas early Friday morning, where he will continue his recovery at the Brooke Army Medical Center.
