Weather Forecast for June 23, 2014

Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Expect an increase in storms today for our viewing area.  In the Daybreak broadcast this morning, we already saw some showers and storms form in the area, and we’re forecasting these storms to continue, particularly in the afternoon when we expect the highest storm chances.  Severe weather is possible but it will be limited; most storms that form will be normal summer thunderstorms.

Due to the increased cloud cover and storms, temperatures will stay in the 80s by and large, especially if you rainfall early.  Some of you may remember getting some storms on Saturday, which dropped temperatures to the low 80s for much of the afternoon.  If you receive rainfall late in the morning or early in the afternoon, I expect the moisture will stunt temperatures during the later afternoon hours.  Breaks of sunshine will also, of course, help temperatures increase.

Basically, the weather today is going to make me work! I’m keeping the high at 89, but I expect plenty of variation throughout Middle Georgia depending on how much rainfall you receive this afternoon.
