"Happy Fourth of July!" said Terry Maine.
The grill’s fired up, the boats are zooming by.
"The only place in the world you can celebrate the 4th of July," said Terry Maine.
And it’s definitely the 4th of July.
Folks from all over came to enjoy the festivities at Lake Tobesofkee Friday afternoon.
"Barbecues, chickens, pretty people, great people, the children are kinda fun–beautiful children," said Marilyn Maine.
"Everybody’s having a good time it’s really great–people are boating and people are swimming everywhere," said Jamesa Odom. "It’s really great."
Patriotism–that was certainly on some minds.
"And it’s wonderful that they serve our country and we appreciate them very very much," said Marilyn Maine.
"We’re in America, we have to celebrate–we’re one of the best countries," said Odom.
"Great day to be alive, great day to be an American," said Terry Maine.
And nothing’s more American than a good piece of watermelon.
"We’ve got two acres of melons and we actually had some ready for the fourth of July so we picked them last night and set up about nine o’clock this morning," said Jamie Tharpe.
"We need a 4th of July every month I think," said Marilyn Maine.
It’s not every month, but we can certainly celebrate our independence every year.
"We love being at the lake–it’s great having everyone together for a common cause. We love patriotism."
