Jones County Sheriff Deputies investigate dog attack

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC-WMGT) – Jones Sheriff Deputy Mickel Moody was on patrol Thursday night when he saw a dog running towards two woman as if to attack them, according to an incident report.

Deputy Moody tried to block the dog’s path with his vehicle, but was unsuccessful. The dog attacked one of the women. The Deputy attempted to stop the dog.

The owner of the dog got control of the dog and took it back to his residence. The report states the owner keeps the dog inside most of the time due to his aggressive nature. The owner told the deputy the dog is a cane corso.

Animal Control arrived on scene and took the dog into confinement and issued the owner citations for failure to confine. The report says the owner said he wasn’t aware of any shots the dog had.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for the bites she received on her arm, lower buttocks, and thigh area.
