Georgia officially opens the 2014 campaign on the road at Ole Miss on Fri., Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. ET, set to air on the brand new SEC Network. The contest vs. the Rebels will serve as the inaugural in-season live event to run across all sports on the network. In all, Georgia will have two games on the SEC Network television channel in 2014 (Sept. 21 vs. Vanderbilt) and one on ESPNU (Oct. 19 vs. LSU), in addition to 11 on the “SEC Network +” digital platform.
The 2014 edition of the Bulldogs includes six returning starters and 17 letterwinners from a season ago, in addition to 13 newcomers. Highlighting the returning group is All-SEC and All-Region performer Marion Crowder, who led the squad in goals (11) and points (23) as a freshman in 2013. Among the rookie group are four players who join the Bulldogs from her respective country’s youth national team, including Mariel Gutierrez (Mexico U-20), Louise Hogrell (Sweden U-19), Eli Martinez (Honduras U-20), Shayna Raekelboom (Belgium U-19), and Becca Rasmussen (United States U-18).
Georgia is aiming for its fifth NCAA Tournament bid in the last eight seasons and ninth overall. The Bulldogs are coming off a 12-7-1 (5-5-1) campaign last season and a trip to the SEC Championships quarterfinal round.
