ATHENS, Ga. (UGA ATHLETICS RELEASE) – The Georgia soccer team will unofficially open the 2014 campaign with an exhibition scrimmage when it heads to take on border rival Clemson on the road this Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at Riggs Field.

The Bulldogs opened preseason camp on Wednesday. Following the Clemson game, Georgia returns home to face SEC rival Auburn on Sat., Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. – open to the public with free admission. The regular season will kick off the following weekend as the Bulldogs will square off against Ole Miss in Oxford on Aug. 22, marking the first in-season live event to be broadcast on the brand new SEC Network.

Georgia last faced the Tigers this spring season, falling 2-1 on the road in a game that featured three 30-minute periods. The last time the teams met during the regular season was 2009, with Georgia earning a 2-1 win at Clemson.

The Bulldogs return six starters and 17 letterwinners from last season, while bringing in 13 freshmen. Headlining the returning group is sophomore Marion Crowder, who led Georgia in goals (11) and points (23) in 2013 on her way to All-SEC and All-Region honors as a rookie.

Georgia will be aiming for its fifth NCAA Tournament bid in the last eight seasons, and ninth overall, in 2014.
