"Last year, we had a lot of young players that got a lot of playing time," Hodges said about his 2013 squad being fairly green, "We hope that kind of helps us this year, we’ve got a good bit of experience coming back."
A lot of that experience returning will be on the offense, with nine starters being back. The Indians were only able to score around 20 points a game last season, so Coach Hodges knows that’s a statistic that will need to improve, "We’re kind of hitting the ground running, but like they say, you never know until you start playing."
Six starters will be returning for the defense, a unit that allowed 21 points per game in 2013.
"We always look at one thing on defense, the main thing is don’t give up the big play," Hodges stated about his defensive philosophy, "Force the other team to drive the ball. So that’s always first."
First game for the Indians will be at Bleckley County on August 22nd. First home game will on August 29th versus Brantley County.
