Former Wilkinson coach Moore dies at 75

IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Former Wilkinson County coach, pastor and board of education member David Moore has passed away.

Moore was basketball coach at Calhoun Consolidated High School, what’s now known as Wilkinson County High School.  Under his direction, his teams won three state championships and finished runner-up 11 times.

He passed away Saturday in Irwinton surrounded by his family, according to a release from the school system.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 at the David Moore Gymnasium, located at 207 West Main Street.  The funeral will be Saturday at noon in WCHS’s gymnasium (The Palace), located at 12516 Ga. Highway 57.
