MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Former Macon disc jockeys reunited to talk about the golden days of WNEX-AM radio station and the role they played in making Capricorn Records and the Allman Brothers Band successful.
They met in the "Big House Museum" home’s backyard Saturday to reminisce about the AM radio station’s popularity 40 years ago.
Terry Taylor was a member of the panel for the radio reunion. Taylor hired most of the disc jockeys during the late 60’s and into the 70’s.
"Whenever anything new came out we had it right there," says Taylor. "We got gold records for ‘Keep on Smiling.’ We got gold records for ‘Fooled Around and Fell in Love."
Gregg Allman is scheduled to perform to a sold out crowd at the Grand Opera House January 9 and 10.
