The Bibb County Sheriff Department hosted the event. More than three-hundred children played games and enjoyed free food.
"We came from Byron for my son to meet Santa, ‘ Shariece Thompson said. "This is his first Christmas that he will probably remember, and meeting Santa has been the only thing on his mind."
During the event there was a toy raffle for children. Some of the items up for grabs included monster trucks, Barbie dolls, boxing gloves, action figures, and stuffed animals. Some lucky kids got their own bicycles.
"I finally got a bike," seven year old James Avery mentioned. "Now I got some wheels."
Sheriff David Davis was happy with the turnout. He wants to continue the event next year.
"Our goal was to help some kids out and make sure they have a good Christmas," Sheriff Davis added.
Davis also told us, local merchants provided the food, toys, and money needed for the event. He called it a community effort to make some children happy.
