MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – State Senator Ross Tolleson expects lawmakers to legalize medical marijuana this year and  he says the state will have to take a look at funding infrastructure improvements. 41NBC’s Amanda Castro sat down with the senator to learn more before the 2015 session starts next week.

Tolleson says he doesn’t know what’s going to come this year at the Capitol. He says you find out when session starts and lawmakers draft bills. But he does expect lawmakers to tackle water policy issues.

The senator believes Representative Allen Peake’s medical marijuana bill is going to be clean this year. He adds there won’t be any recreational use of the drug in the law because it “would never make it through the bill.” Tolleson says it will probably pass the General Assembly.

Tolleson adds transportation funding issues are going to be ongoing this year. He says the state is behind on its infrastructure work.
