Dickey (R-District 140) says transportation funding is shrinking due to people driving less and higher mileage vehicles . He adds the need for transportation work across the state is increasing. The lawmaker believes the needs to look at ways to invest more money into the transportation infrastructure and try to alleviate gridlock and deteriorating roads.
Dickey says the Bibb delegation may do some adjusting to the Macon-Bib consolidation charter, but he’s not sure they’re going to be doing all that Macon-Bibb leaders have asked for. He adds adding Payne City to the consolidated government is going to be another issue.
Rural healthcare will also be a topic of discussion this year. Dickey says the real challenge is funding.
Dickey was appointed as a floor leader for this legislative session. He says it is a big responsibility and he is honored to be asked to take on the position.
