Middle Georgia Regional Airport carrier search extended

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Middle Georgia Regional Airport has been granted an extension for carriers to apply to the United States Department of Transportation after the department’s January 8 deadline.

The extension was based on an economic impact study by the Georgia DOT, a market study of people using passenger service in the area, and the early success of Silver Airways.

After less than two years of operation, Silver Airways discontinued its services with the airport.

According to a news release, Airport Manager Doug Faour is patiently looking for a provider that will meet all the airport’s needs and market potential.

The new deadline for the airport is February 26.
