Randall (D-District 142) says she is introducing several pieces of legislation this year. She’s no longer the Bibb delegation chair, which she says means she mostly handled local legislation, and now she can focus on issues she’s passionate about.
Randall pre-filed a bill that will change the procedure authorities use in Georgia when a death occurs at the hands of law enforcement. The legislation proposes instead of having a grand jury make that determination, the Attorney General will appoint a special prosecutor and it will be a more open, transparent process.
The lawmaker says she supported Representative Allen Peake’s medical marijuana bill last year and she plans to again this year. She hopes to bring relief to some of Georgia’s sickest citizens.
The Georgia General Assembly will convene for the 2015 legislative session on Monday, January 12.
