VIDEO: Movie set explosion damages Macon stores

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An explosion during the filming of a movie in downtown Macon damaged several stores.

41NBC obtained the video from Facebook. This was a planned explosion on the set of "The Fifth Wave." Macon-Bibb officials tell 41NBC it happened Sunday morning around 3:45 a.m.

The explosion destroyed windows and property along Cotton Avenue between Cherry and Mulberry Streets.

No one was injured.

According to Chris Floore with Macon-Bibb County, the production company is paying for all of the damage. The city doesn’t know how much the total cost is because the production company is working directly with the affected businesses.

The company will also replant some trees for the city. Officials say no structural damage has been discovered, but they are still looking.
