According to the sheriff’s office, the armed robbery at the restaurant on Zebulon Road happened Saturday around 8:45 p.m.
The suspect was carrying a black handgun. Investigators say he forced a waitress off of the floor at gunpoint and made her open the cash register. He also pointed the gun at other people inside the restaurant. He stole an undisclosed amount of cash and ran away.
An employee ran over to a nearby restaurant and saw off duty Bibb County sheriff’s deputy Sgt. Reginald Thomas. She told Thomas the Waffle House had just been robbed.
Thomas spotted the suspect entering the Circle K convenience store across the street from the Waffle House. Patrol deputies responded and the suspect was caught shortly later.
The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Ricarlos Santrell Butler of Macon. He is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and probation violation.
Butler was booked in the Bibb County jail. No bond has been set.
