"We are extremely proud to announce the addition of another outstanding group of young men to our program," said Lamb. "Our coaching staff did a great job of recruiting talented student-athletes to Mercer and bringing in a class that adds a lot of size and speed to our team."
Mercer’s 2015 class includes 20 incoming freshman and one FBS transfer, who hail from five different states and as far away as Australia. The defensive backs, defensive line and offensive line were areas of focus on the recruiting front with 11 of the team’s 21 recruits coming from those position groups.
"We are trying to build this program with an inside-out approach, starting in the state of Georgia and working out to the rest of the southeast and extended," Lamb added.
The 2015 class joins a Mercer program that returns all 22 starters from the 2014 season, when the Bears finished 6-6 in their first campaign in the Southern Conference. Mercer will waste no time beginning its preparation for the 2015 season, as spring practice is slated to begin on Sunday.
