Macon man dies after speeding away from police on motorcycle

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man died Monday night after he wrecked his motorcycle trying to get away from police.
      
A Bibb County deputy clocked 41-year-old Dale Byrd doing 70 mph in a 45 mph zone on Shurling Drive in Macon.

When the deputy tried to pull him over, he sped up.

After a chase, Byrd got away from the deputy.

He eventually wrecked on Donald Avenue.

He then picked his motorcycle up off the ground and drove away, and the deputy lost sight of him.

Later, police received a call saying Byrd went off the road and hit a tree on Donald Avenue, where he died.
