Woman faces felony charges for cashing deceased mother’s checks

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon woman was taken to the Bibb County Jail and is facing 23 felony counts of theft by taking for cashing checks issued to her dead mother.

According to the State Board of Workers’ Compensation, 29-year-old April Renee Reed allegedly forged and cashed 23 checks that were for her mother, Barbara Jean Reed.

Barbara Reed died passed away in May 2013, but her daughter never informed the insurance company of her mother’s death.
