MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The body found in the Ocmulgee River yesterday has been identified.  A family friend told Bibb deputies it’s 48-year-old Shean Atkinson.  He was homeless and lived in a camp site near the river.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Atkinson’s death was an accidental drowning and there were no physical injuries on his body.

Bibb deputies need help identifying the man they found dead in the Ocmulgee River.

Bibb Coroner Leon Jones says the white male was found at 11:43 a.m. on Sunday about four miles from the Spring Street boat ramp. The victim was found laying next to a tree without any clothes.
