MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In its first season back in the GHSA, Stratford’s boys soccer team made it all the way to the Class A title match before running out of steam.

On a picture perfect day at Mercer’s Five Star Stadium, Atlanta International controlled possession from the opening whistle and cruised to a 3-0 win.

Tomas Perez struck first for the Eagles in the 26th minute, heading in a free kick from Nicholas Rath. At halftime, AIS led 1-0.

Stratford came out firing in the second half, shooting three shots in the first four minutes, but it was unable to score.

Perez added his second goal of the day at the 53 minute mark, converting a penalty kick after Stratford was called for a handball in the box.

Logan Paradies capped the scoring in the 73rd minute off the assist from Nicolas Perez.

Before Saturday, the Eagles hadn’t allowed a goal in the playoffs, shutting out Our Lady of Mercer (5-0), Athens Academy (7-0) and Fellowship Christian (5-0) on their way to the title match.
