IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A European based company with its only plant in the U.S. in middle Georgia is expanding, bringing more jobs to the area.

The Zschimmer and Schwarz company is building a new chemical facility in Wilkinson County. The chemical manufacturer’s president and CEO says the 300 acre site met all of the criteria the they needed for business growth.

"We’re at a segment where we’re growing rapidly and are familiar with the type of equipment we need, and the market that we serve. It’s normal we do some kind of expansion every year. This one is a little bit more ambitious," CEO Bill Burton said.

Zschimmer and Schwarz makes specialty chemicals found in popular shampoos, shoes, clothes, and even floor tiling. Leaders plan to have the facility built by the end of 2016, creating about 25 jobs with plans for more in the coming years.
