62-year-old Velma Jackson was walking across the street with her 23-year-old son when a car hit her killing her instantly. Investigators say by the time the driver saw Jackson crossing the road it was too late.
"A vehicle stopped to let pedestrians cross the street and as they did, by the time Mr. Hall saw the stopped vehicle, they were in the path on Pio Nono Avenue. He collided with Ms. Jackson," Lt. Sean Defoe said.
Jackson’s son wasn’t injured.
Defoe says an investigation must be completed before knowing if the driver, 25-year-old Shannon Hall, will face any charges.
