Twiggs County Sheriff Darren Mitchum says deputies answered a domestic dispute call at a home on Richard Drive in Jeffersonville on May 24. Deputies found a stolen car in the backyard and charged Keyana Williams with theft by receiving a stolen automobile. She was released on June 26 on a $6,000 bond.
Deputies also noticed two mentally disabled people living at the home. Williams told deputies they were her patients, even though she isn’t licensed to operate a personal care home. The two disabled people were taken to the hospital and then transferred to the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
An investigation into the unlicensed care home showed Williams and Rodney Bryant Jr. were taking money from the two disabled people while the victims were in the care of DBHDD. Williams and Bryant were arrested on June 19. They’re charged with three counts of exploitation of a disabled person, four counts of identity theft, three counts of financial transaction card fraud, three counts of unauthorized use of a financial card, three counts of criminal receipt of good and services fraudulently obtained, and one count of financial transaction card theft.
The investigation is ongoing and deputies expect additional charges to be filed.
