Lane Southern Orchards holds 22nd annual Fourth of July event

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Thousands of people turned out for the 22nd annual Lane Southern Orchards Fourth of July celebration.

Children climbed through bounce houses and others slid down wet inflatables.

There was live music and all types of festival foods.

Warner Robins Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) team allowed people inside their armored car.

Lane Southern Orchards CEO Mark Sanchez says the Independence Day celebration gives his staff an opportunity to get to know their customers.

“It’s the middle of peach season, and if we want to celebrate the fourth with our friends,  we needed to invite our friends out here,” he says.  “Because we’re working today. So we just started with a small celebration and it’s grown into this. Every year it gets bigger."

For a fee, people got to ride in Cobra and Huey helicopters provided by the U.S. Army.

"People have sacrificed their lives and their own well being just to get what we have today," says United States Navy and Marine Veteran Pilot, George Bartlett.
