PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Two Houston County School Board members are resigning this month. Skip Dawkins and Dr. Marianne Melnick are stepping down because they’re moving out of their districts.
Dawkins served on the board for nearly 20 years. He retired in 2006 from Alltel Communications after working more than 42 years in that industry.
Melnick has served since 2007. Before serving on the board, she retired from the school district, where she was the principal at Warner Robins and Assistant Superintendent for Student Services.
The board will appoint replacements to serve until the next county-wide election, which is expected to be on March 1, 2016. . If the appointees are elected on March 1, this would allow them to finish the unexpired terms. The District 3 term ends December 31, 2016; the District 2 term ends December 31, 2018.
