Former Mercer golfer James Beale opens play at RBC Canadian Open

OAKVILLE, Ontario (MERCER ATHLETICS) – Former Mercer men’s golfer James Beale has finished round one of the RBC Canadian Open with a 3-over 75. An amateur, Beale is making his debut appearance in a PGA Tour event this week at the Glen Abbey Golf Club.

The Auckland, New Zealand, Native tallied two birdies and five bogies on the day. Beale will tee off the second round at 1:55 p.m. local time on Friday, July 24. Beale earned an exemption into the Canadian Open after winning the 2014 Canadian Amateur after a three-hole playoff.
