Middle Georgia families can start signing up for the program Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bloomfield Park in Macon. Families will need to bring birth certificates and social security cards for all of the children, an ID and social security cards for the parent or guardian, and a utility bill.
There is a new requirement this year. To qualify to receive help from Kids Yule Love 2015, all applicants must volunteer four hours of community service in the county where they live. If you are handicapped, you must find a sponsor 18 years or older to complete your community service requirement.
"We want them to give back to the community that done so much for them over the years plut it will make them feel good themselves that they’re giving something back to the community and when the children wake up they can say i did this because i gave hours to community service," Allen said.
Kids Yule Love serves 16 counties: Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Crisp, Dooly, Henry, Houston, Jones, Laurens, Macon, Monroe, Peach, Sumter, Taylor, Twiggs, and Wilkinson counties.
The next Bibb County registration is September 10 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at North Macon Park. Houston County residents can register on September 13 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at KYL Warehouse located at 202 Highway 49 in Byron.
Other county registrations will be announced soon.
This is the 30th year of Kids Yule Love. It started at Christmas in 1986.
