9/11 Anniversary: Cities across Middle Georgia plan memorials

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – There are several remembrance ceremonies across Middle Georgia on the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

In Macon, local leaders will gather downtown in the morning at Public Safety Memorial Park at Second and Mulberry Streets. The public is invited to the event which starts at 8:45am.

In Warner Robins, several groups are coming together for the 9/11 Day of Service" opening ceremony. You’re invited to come out to thank first responders and remember those lost in the attacks. The event starts at 8:30am at the Warner Robins Law Enforcement Center.

In Milledgeville, Georgia Military College will remember the day by recording the names of victims and the names of four GMC graduates killed in the war on terror. That’s happening at the north end of the Old Capitol building on campus. The morning starts with a parade formation and wreath laying, starting at 7:40am.

In Johnson County, the Wrightsville Fire Department on East College Street will host a 9/11 memorial service. State Representative Bill Hitchens is expected to speak, and the Johnson County High School band will perform the national anthem. That service will start at 9am.
