Macon-Bibb starts county-wide recycling

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – County wide recycling started in Macon-Bibb Monday.

Pick up is offered every other week and bigger bins are available for residents. Macon-Bibb’s Solid Waste Director Kevin Barkley said there have been about 200 new recycling bins ordered since Christmas. The department gave away more than 100 at the Bring One to the Chipper event this past weekend.

Once you’ve placed your order by either calling the Solid Waste Department at (478) 803-0499 or (478)751-7400,  or by using the county’s See Click Fix App, you can expect your bin in about two weeks.

"Just like the truck says, it’s simple and easy. They dump all the materials into one container. Plastic bottles, aluminum cans, the metal cans and all your paper products get dumped in the container, loose, so that when we dump it out it’s easily separated and processed," explained Barkley.

If you live in an apartment complex, you can take your recyclable material to the fire stations on Jones Road, Riverside Drive, Coliseum Drive or Forsyth Road.
