Governor Nathan Deal announced that Valmiera Glass Group will invest $90 million to expand the U.S. based headquarters in the city through 2022.
In 2014, Valmiera Glass announced it would invest $20 million and bring 150 jobs. Now, the company’s plan has accelerated by three years.
Governor Nathan Deal says, "The expansion of Valmiera Glass Group is a strategic step that will provide customers with a broader range of products and shorter delivery times while creating jobs in Middle Georgia."
The European based company located in Valmiera, Latvia, is a global partner to the aerospace, oil, gas and other industries. Valmiera Glass offers services including the production, processing, and coating of textile fiberglass structures. The new jobs will require highly skilled candidates. The company will be working with the Oconee Fall Line Technical College to help educate future employees.
“Demand for glass fiber products has increased, while the company’s productive capacity hardly outlasts the required amounts. The expansion in the U.S. is a solution to this problem.” adds Andre Schwiontek, head of Valmiera Glass Group and president of Valmiera Glass USA Corp.
