Second suspect arrested in deputy-involved shooting in Wilcox County

PINEVIEW, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A suspect is in the hospital and another is in custody after a deputy-involved shooting Monday morning.

Special Agent J.T. Ricketson with the G.B.I.’s Perry Office tells 41NBC the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at the Planters First Bank on the corner of North Pine and East Bay Streets.

Two suspects, 19-year-old Nacarious West and a 17-year-old whose name hasn’t been released, were inside the bank and set off an alarm. A responding deputy got to the scene a short time after.

Ricketson says one of the suspects was armed, forcing the deputy to shoot two rounds at the suspects.

The 17-year-old suspect was shot. He was airlifted to the Medical Center, Navicent Health. West ran away, causing a multi-agency search.

After several hours, West was caught and taken the Pulaski County jail. He’s currently in the Wilcox County jail charged with burglary.

The responding deputy is alright.
