MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Eleven dogs are recovering after an animal cruelty investigation in Macon.
According to a news release, 39-year-old Martin Luther King abandoned the animals after he moved out of a house on Log Cabin Drive in November 2015.
The new home owner reported the animals to the Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare Department. Director Sonja Adams says the dogs were malnourished and with injuries.
Bibb deputies arrested King for 11 counts of animal cruelty and one count of dog fighting. He is being held in the Bibb County Jail on a $12,850 bond.
The animals were taken to the county veterinarian for treatment.
