MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Former NFL and Georgia Southern University football star Adrian Peterson visited Heritage Elementary in Macon Friday.
Peterson is a motivational speaker.
He overcame a speech impediment at a young age, and uses that to connect with students in elementary school that also deal with it.
He says he has students with speech impediments across the country contact him and thank him for what he does.
“A lot of kids get to see NFL guys just on Sunday nights or Monday Night Football,” said Peterson. “But I think it’s important for them to them to actually get to see someone in person. You can get a high five, get some pictures, you know, that we are human. We have obstacles that we have to overcome.”
His message to the students included how much hard work pays off, and how his life is an example of that.
Peterson graduated from Georgia Southern in 2001 and went on to play eight seasons with the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
