Macon Veterans Association cleans cemetery, shows respect to fallen soldiers

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Volunteers with The Vietnam Veterans Association in Macon decided to get their hands dirty this weekend to show respect for fallen soldiers.

They cleaned up Linwood Cemetery.

Sargent Rodney M. Davis was honored. He served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1971. The Macon Cemetery Preservation Corporation leaders believe it’s important to keep the cemetery clean because of the sacrifice these soldiers made to protect our freedom.

“I work so diligently and my organization work so diligently as far as trying to clean it up on a regular basis and hopefully get perpetual care and that’s our long term goal,” said Jackson.

The group meets at Linwood Cemetery the second Saturday each month. If you would like to volunteer, call Alice B. Jackson at 478-746-0589.
