WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A trash grabber and a helping hand was all you needed to be apart of the keep Macon-Bibb and Warner Robins Beautiful highway cleanup Saturday morning.

Volunteers from all across Middle Georgia participated in the event.

Any bottles, paper, and debris seen on Highway 247 were thrown away properly.

More than 300 bags of waste were taken to local dumps and recycling centers.

“I always say in Macon we don’t have a litter problem,” said Pam Carswell, the president of Keep Macon Beautiful. “We have a litterer problem, it’s the people. Because trash doesn’t get there with out a human putting it on the ground.”

“Every time we go into a school and we do a presentation we say what we can do about littering,” said Debra Jones, Keep Warner Robins Beautiful executive director. “We tell them it’s just one word and it’s a contraction: DON’T.”

This was an effort to clean the highway running from the Robins Air Force Base to Macon.
