MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County School District wants to make sure every child has a full belly this usmmer.
The summer nutrition program started Monday. From now until July 15th, people 18 and under can come to multiple locations in the county and get a free, nutritious meal.
The program coordinator said they serve about 4,200 breakfast meals and 5,200 lunch meals a day.
“We are trying to give our input to make sure they receive a nutritious meal. Mom and dad may not be able to purchase that bag of oranges or bag of apples this week, so we offer that bag of oranges or bag of apples through that meal that we serve,” said Bernice Tukes, the Summer Meals Coordinator.
