BRUNSWICK, Georgia (AP) – The Coast Guard says the body of a man missing off the Georgia coast has been recovered while crews continue to search for his wife.
Petty Officer 1st Class Stephen Lehmann, a Coast Guard spokesman, said the body of 59-year-old Raymond Hutchins was found Tuesday near the mouth of the Satilla River south of Brunswick. He and his wife, 61-year-old Laura Hutchins, went missing Sunday after launching their pontoon boat near their home in coastal Camden County.
Capt. Bob Lynn of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources says the couple’s son reported them missing Monday morning, telling authorities his parents called Sunday afternoon saying their boat was stuck on a sandbar. Crews found the boat Monday with the engine running and the couple’s dog onboard and unharmed.
