MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – People across Middle Georgia celebrated our nation’s Independence Day at Lake Tobesofkee.
The Rome family is one of many that celebrated the Fourth of July at Lake Tobesofkee.
“We like the beach. I like it. Yeah, it’s relaxing. Everybody enjoying themselves. Everybody having fun,” says a member of the Rome family.
The family is from Atlanta and love to take road trips to experience other places. Lake Tobesofkee is a recreation facility in Macon-Bibb County, where people come to go to swimming, boating or just to relax.
Danny Carmichael is from Macon and he has been coming to the lake for many years.
Carmichael adds it’s a beautiful place where he can enjoy being with his family.
“A lot of them out there on the boat. I don’t swim so I don’t get out there. I just sit here under the tree, and chill out.,” Carmichael says.
Lake goers say this the place to be on the fourth of July. People from all across the state came to celebrate, including a former NFL player.
“I used to come here when I was a kid, been everywhere in the world. And it was good to just come back and share it with my kids and my family,” says former NFL player, Laron Scott.
Scott adds there’s something in particular he’s anxious to try while he visits.
“I had a couple of my guys from the New York Giants tell me that they do the jet skis out here. I haven’t been able to try it yet, but I’m looking forward to it,” Scott continues.
Admission is three dollars per person. Children six years old and younger get in for free.
