MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Outreach Section gave away book bags Friday afternoon at their location on Pio Nono Avenue.
The book bags were free to anyone who stopped by from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and were filled with school supplies such as pencils, markers, and notebooks.
“This gives the kids an advantage on starting back at school without having to wonder will they have the supplies,” said Lt. Chris Dunn of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department.
Lt. Dunn says he’s been apart of the annual giveaway for three years, and loves seeing the kids getting their supplies.
“It’s a good thing to see the joy in the face once they’ve obtained and gotten their book bag,” continued Lt. Dunn. “As some of them call it, ‘this is my book bag.'”
Lt. Dunn estimates that over 200 book bags where given away to children from kindergarten all the way to the 12th grade.
