MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Historic Macon released their Fading Five list Wednesday morning. This list outlines which endangered structures the group will raise awareness for and try to save.
Stephanie Chipley bought the Bonnybrae-Bedgood House on Georgia Avenue as a result of Fading Five 2015.
“[We were} walking around downtown and my husband says, let’s go check out that Fading Five house,” Chipley said.
Now, they are remodeling the house and bringing it back to life.
“We really got excited about the project, but there was another potential buyer,” Chipley said. “It was going to be a law building which seemed like a shame, so we were really happy to snap it up.”
Ethiel Garlington is the Executive Director for Historic Macon. He’s ready to start working on the new list.
“We’re hoping that we can build on this momentum,” Garlington said. “We caught some good breaks in 2015 with that list so we’re hoping that in 2016 we can save all five of these.”
