MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Five Star Toyota hosted a special grand re-opening ceremony Tuesday afternoon at their brand new showroom on North Columbia Street.
The new building was the culmination of an 18-month long project, said owner Charlie Cantrell.
“Actually, it was a two-year project, that we started from a piece of paper,” he said. “It’s a big day for us, it’s a big day for Toyota, and a big day for Baldwin County.”
The event was catered today thanks to the folks at Aubri Lane, but that wasn’t all. A special gift was awarded to the dealership – a katana sword directly from the Toyota company.
The blade was traditionally used by samurai warriors in Japan, and is meant to symbolize and recognize the dealership’s commitment to improvement and Toyota’s brand success.
“All 1,200 of our associates across Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee are excited about the redesigned dealership,” said Trae Phillips, the Milledgeville dealership’s general manager in a news release. “We are very proud to have made a significant reinvestment in this facility and look forward to sharing the finished product with our friends and family throughout the community.”
“It’s pretty amazing to see one go from dirt and grass in the middle of, kind of nowhere,” added Cantrell. “It’s been nice for all our people, and our customers.”
The Five Star Automotive Group has been apart of Middle Georgia since 1986.
