MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -With the holiday season in full effect, more drivers are on the road. Especially drivers who shouldn’t be.

Aside from traveling or getting last minute gifts, many people will be attending holiday parties as well. Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is making sure people are taking extra precaution when driving, Most importantly if they have been drinking.

Captain Brad Wolfe, says people should plan ahead if you’re planning on having a drink.

“Make sure you have a ride home and don’t take that chance of being arrested during the holidays or hurting somebody or yourself during the holidays,” Captain Wolfe. “It’s just so much easier to plan ahead and get somebody to drive that hadn’t been drinking. That way everybody’s safe and has a good time.”

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, there were 1,432 roadway deaths last year. Bibb County Sheriff’s Office wants to make there aren’t any more contributions to that this year.
